“Indoor Air Controlled” becomes the international certification “Air Label Score”
-
"Indoor Air Controlled" becomes Air Label Score: the international certification that guarantees the best information on the emissions emissions of products into the air.
-
In 2022 the certification is officially renamed. Air Intérieur Contrôlé, Indoor Air Controlled, Indoor Air Controlled, Binnenlucht Gecontroleerd... The first certification that informs the consumer about the emissions of products into indoor now responds to a unique, new name, Air Label Score.
Why?
We want to share with you the reasons for this change. Since the certification came into existence in 2019, we have had some recurring observations:We have very often received feedback that consumers, certified companies and the press remember the "Air Label" certification brand and talk about "airlabelled" products.
- We noticed a growing demand for a single international label for different languages and markets.
- We have seen room for improvement in the intelligibility and understanding of certification for all consumers. We have been witnessing an increased awareness of the Nutri-Score, various proposals for a Planet-score and other similar systems, which has led us to move even more towards a scoring system.
We have thus decided to slightly improve the name of our certification for a better understanding, not only through the name change, but also by investing even more in our awareness-raising work and collaboration with associations, brands and communities. We aim to make it clear to consumers that our mission is to offer them the best information on the emissions of products, so they can make an informed choice and consume in a healthier and more sustainable way.
New name, same investment
We did some research to find this new denomination. Some focus groups, qualitatives and quantitative studies… The results were overwhelming! We are therefore happy to share with you this new name: Air Label Score. Thanks to all consumers that helped us at this stage, as well as to all the other stakeholders.
We note that the certification awareness remains stable, since consumers are already very familiar with the design of the label and therefore recognize the new seal right away. The two certifications will therefore coexist during a transition phase until the end of 2022.
The new name will bring numerous benefits. In a nutshell:
- A stronger and even more consistent brand image.
- A better public understanding.
- A more global message on the products emissions.
- An even more international label, with one single denomination for all markets.
- More in line with the scoring systems known by consumers.
- More in line with feedback from the press & consumers.
But first and foremost, we want to remind that, even if the name changes, the core of the certification will remain the same. Our mission will remain to certify the lowest-emitting products to help consumers and brands use and create better, less impactful products!
